OUR HISTORY
INNOVATING SINCE 1981.
Since 1981, we’ve been pioneering innovative solutions and setting industry standards with every fabrication milestone.

1981
Humble Beginnings
Service Metal Fabricating, Inc. was founded in 1981 by Joe Moretti. With secondhand equipment and a small team, Joe began building the company with determination and vision. His sons, Joe Jr. and Jim, joined him at the shop during weekends and summers at just 12 and 13 years old.
1984
Pioneering Innovation
By 1984, the company had adopted CAD/CAM systems and purchased its first laser cutting machine, becoming a pioneer in the industry. These early investments allowed Service Metal to deliver high-precision, complex parts that set them apart in fabrication excellence.

Late 1980s
Family Tradition Grows
The youngest son, Bill, joined the company and began learning the business hands-on. Joe Sr. instilled in his sons a strong work ethic, technical skill, and commitment to customers, employees, and vendors alike.
1990s
Rapid Growth & Expansion
Joe Jr. and Jim began sharing management responsibilities while Bill advanced as a laser-cutting expert. The company doubled its facility space to over 30,000 sq. ft., added state-of-the-art laser, CNC, and robotic equipment, and entered new industries such as biotech, military, semi-conductor, and architectural fabrication.

Late 1990s
Specialized Capabilities
Service Metal gained a strong reputation in sanitary and high-end vacuum weldments for industries like food packaging and pharmaceuticals. The company also introduced in-house water-jet cutting and powder coating services, further expanding its full-service capabilities.
2011
A Legacy of Remembrance
n 2011, Service Metal Fabricating proudly contributed to the 9/11 Memorial Plaques in New York.
Our responsibility was the precise engraving of the names of those lost in the September 11 attacks, etched into the memorial's bronze parapets surrounding the reflecting pools. This sacred task required the highest level of accuracy and respect.
It marked a milestone in both our technical capabilities and our legacy, becoming part of a symbol of remembrance, unity, and healing.
